Guess What’s Going On?
The economy is bad. People are counting their dollars and making tough decisions on what to spend their money on.
At the same time, the face of the web is rapidly changing. Waaayy back when, web hosting was expensive. And you didn’t get much for your buck. I remember the days when domain names were $70 a YEAR! And hosting was $50 or more per month for 100MB of space and maybe 2GB of bandwidth.
Then came the “Happy Days”. The days when companies started coming out with cheaper and cheaper domain names. Web Hosting became cheaper and cheaper too, until you were getting huge amounts of space and bandwidth (yes, some claimed to be “unlimited”, read our post on how THAT works).
In the past couple of years, we’ve started to see the pendulum swing back toward the middle. Domain names, while no longer the outrageous $70 per year, are now around $15 per year. Web hosting has less bandwidth and space, but remains about $10 per month for the average site.
However, with the increasing popularity of blogs, Content Management Systems, Email traffic and attachments, and other interractive programming on websites, space and bandwidth are suddenly something to think about again. We’ve seen clients using our Basic account suddenly running out of space or going over bandwidth.
So, what did we do? Well, most hosts might say “upgrade to a larger package”. We decided instead to uprade EVERY SINGLE PACKAGE we offer.
In the next day or so, Basic, Classic, and Complete packages will get more of just about everything. More space, more bandwidth, more add-on, parked, and sub-domains. One thing they will NOT get more of is cost. The prices will not change.
Why are we doing this? Because we care about our clients. We follow the Internet trends, follow what the needs of our clients are, and respond accordingly. We just think that’s what a good host does
Thank you for your business, we appreciate YOU!
